Nearby Facilities :Montelucci is ideally situated for an exploration of many famous medieval hill top towns which hold regular costumed festivals to celebrate their history and traditions such as picturesque Castiglion Fiorentino which comes alive in May/June and neighbouring Cortona, made famous by Frances Mayes in her book and film ‘Under The Tuscan Sun’ and also home of the famous Chianina Steak and Porcini Sagre. Visit the universally esteemed wine centre Montelpulciano and sample the exquisite cheeses of nearby Pienza. We are located within a few kilometres of Arezzo, famously used as the location for Roberto Benigni’s Oscar winning film ‘La Vita è Bella’. Rich in art and history, Arezzo is also recognized as an important centre for Italy’s gold business and its highly popular Antiques Fare (Antiquariato), held on the first Sunday of every month. We are also ideally situated for a day’s exploration of Firenze (Florence) and even Umbria is manageable, offering the chance to view Italy’s third largest lake, Lago Trasimeno, site of the historic defeat of the Romans by Hannibal and his elephants. How to arrive : The exit from the A1 Highway coming from south (Rome) is Arezzo. At the roundabout right out of the highway, take right following the direction towards Civitella in Valdichiana.Drive through the little village of Viciomaggio and its industrial area and follow the main road, always following the indications towards Civitella in val di Chiana. Once you’ll reach the industrial area of Badia al Pino, you’ll reach almost imediately another roundabout, where you have to take your right, still following the indications for Civitella in val di Chiana.Follow the road for about 6 km climbing up the hill. Almost at the top, you’ll find a gas station on your right, and, once you get to the hilltop, you’ll find an intersection. Take your right towards the clearly indicated direction “Fattoria Montelucci”. Follow the yellow indications “Fattoria Montelucci” or the white ones with the indication , Via Montelucci. The road, after a while, become a white one and the distance to cover is about 7 km.
